Awesome new Gibson Les Paul '68 Custom
VOS, weighing 9.55 pounds.
Here is a limited edition, new 2010 Custom Shop Gibson
'68 Les Paul Custom VOS, weighing in at a very
light 9.55 pounds. These average well over 10
pounds, so this is a very nice weight for this model. These guitars were
discontinued as a core model at the end of the 2005 model
year, but they continue t be produced in small runs on
occasion; you won't find these listed on Gibson's website.
Fantastic playability and tone. The ebony fingerboard
combined with nice tall frets, makes for easy bending and
vibrato. The '57 Classic pickups compliment this guitar
well. It produces full, round and clear tone with great
depth and dimension. The neck is a full, rounded profile
with rounded shoulders and is very comfortable. It is not
quite as large as a '57 Standard reissue.
This is a serious, professional level instrument that
the most demanding Les Paul enthusiast will be pleased with.
All of these that I have sold have been outstanding examples
from the custom shop.
The finish is VOS, meaning it has a dulled ebony finish
and aged nickel hardware to simulate the patina of a well
cared for vintage instrument. And it looks it! Before the
2006 model year, these were considered Custom Authentic's.
There are no differences between this VOS and the prior
years with the exception of the VOS designation and Plek
fret leveling.
These are not to be confused with the "regular" Gibson
USA Les Paul Custom that has weight relief holes and a short
neck tenon. This guitar features a non-weight relieved solid
mahogany back with a long neck tenon.
All Gibson VOS guitars feature Plek laser fret leveling,
lightly aged finishes and hardware for a vintage appearance.
These finishes and hardware can be buffed to a higher gloss
by the owner, if so desired.
Comes with Gibson Custom case, certificate
of authenticity, all hang tags and original shipping box,
just like it left the Gibson Custom Shop.
Switch tip is located in a small plastic zip-lock bag
along with the hangtags. These guitars are shipped from
Gibson this way to prevent the switch tip from being damaged
in shipment.
Without further delay, I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Some pictures may contain photographic reflections or lint
that are not defects in the finish.
